Construction of the channel between shenzhen and zhongshan has been accelerated, and the undersea tunnel has surpassed the hong kong-zhuhai-macao bridge!

The shenzhen-zhongshan corridor is a world-class "bridge, island, tunnel and underground interworking" cluster project under construction worldwide. The shenzhen-zhongshan passage connects shenzhen and zhongshan, with a total length of 24 kilometers. The whole line adopts the standard construction of two-way eight-lane expressway, and the designed speed is 100 kilometers per hour.

It is about 30 kilometers from humen bridge in the north and 38 kilometers from hong kong-zhuhai-macao bridge in the south. Although the overall length of the 24km deep tunnel is not as long as the 55km hong kong-zhuhai-macao bridge, the immersed tube tunnel of the deep tunnel is 6.8km long with 8 lanes in both directions. The immersed tunnel of the HZMB is 6.7 km long and has six lanes in both directions. Therefore, the immersed tube tunnel of the deep-middle passage will surpass the immersed tube tunnel of the hong kong-zhuhai-macao bridge and become the world's longest submarine immersed tube tunnel, and the world's first two-way 8-lane ultra-wide steel shell concrete immersed tube tunnel.

   Each of the standard pipe joints in the steel shell immersed tube tunnel of the deep and middle channels is a "giant", with the size of 46 meters wide by 10.6 meters high by 165 meters long. It USES about 10,000 tons of steel and is equivalent to the hull of a medium-sized aircraft carrier. The project has a total of 32 pipe joints, with a total steel capacity of 320,000 tons, equivalent to 3 bird's nests. The cross-section width of the submarine tunnel section of the deep and middle channel is 46 meters, and the bottom elevation of the submerged pipe at the deepest position is nearly 40 meters from the water surface.

Construction is currently underway to produce the first section of the deep tunnel's steel-clad immersed tube tunnel, which will then be concreted. By the end of 2019, the first immersed tube can be placed in the sea. After the first immersed tube tunnel is installed, the construction speed will be greatly increased.The completion of the middle passage is scheduled for 2024. After the completion of the shenzhen-middle passage, the traffic conditions on the east and west sides of the pearl river will be greatly improved, and the humen bridge, which claims to be the most congested bridge in the world, will be reduced and alleviated. During this year's Spring Festival, humen bridge became a miracle bridge in the world with over 160,000 vehicles. Humen bridge is a two-way six lanes, and the shenzhen-middle passage is a two-way eight lanes.

It is estimated that the construction of the shenzhen-zhongshan passage will have no impact on the traffic flow of the hong kong-zhuhai-macao bridge. Since the opening of the hong kong-zhuhai-macao bridge with a total investment of 120 billion yuan four months ago, only more than 2,000 cars pass through the bridge every day, making it the smoothest bridge in the world.
