South Korea's Namhae-Yeosu undersea tunnel project was awarded

On June 12, 2023, South Korean construction firm DL E&C won the design and construction contract for the Namhae-Yeosu Undersea Tunnel project. DL E&C says it will use smart construction techniques to design the tunnel, including its BIM tunnel design and AI-based generative design.
The 5.76km long tunnel is part of the new National Highway project. The total value is $540 million. DL E&C will use its insulated/fire-resistant concrete in the tunnel project, which has a 40% reduction in thermal conductivity compared to conventional concrete.
