Recently, the second phase of Guangzhou Metro Line 7 from Hongshengsha to Yufengwei has successfully completed the task of crossing the Pearl River, realizing the linking of two lines.

In Hongyu section of the second phase of Line 7, the left line tunnel is 1,660.17 meters long, and the right line tunnel is 1,676.40 meters long. The deepest soil cover of the tunnel is 27.1 meters. In the course of interval tunneling, it is necessary to cross the waters of the Pearl River of 860 meters, and cross the Shiyangyang fault zone about 120 meters wide at the lower part of the main channel of the Pearl River. The tunnel has a long wading distance, and the fault zone has the risk of seepage, so the construction risk is great. At the same time, the north and south sides are close to the wharf, and the surrounding environment is complicated, which further increases the difficulty and risk of crossing the Pearl River.

In view of the characteristics of the shield crossing section, such as poor geology, complex ground environment and high construction risk, Guangzhou Metro and the construction party strengthened the detailed geological survey and supplementary survey on the water of the crossing section. A survey section was set up every 30 meters to carry out supplementary survey in the section with geological changes, so as to accurately identify the geological conditions of the crossing section, which greatly reduced the construction risk. In addition, the builders also rent river patrol boats to patrol the river during the period of shield tunneling, feedback the river situation in real time, and optimize and adjust the parameters of shield tunneling to ensure the safety and stability of shield tunneling.
