The Huanggang Road Tunnel crossing the Yellow River in Jinan was successfully completed

On August 17th, with the cutterhead of the "Shanhe" shield machine with a diameter of 17.5 meters breaking through the ground, the shield section of the Yellow River Tunnel on Huanggang Road in Jinan City, invested and constructed by Jinan Urban Construction Group and undertaken by China Railway 14th Bureau Group, was successfully excavated. This world's largest diameter underwater shield tunnel was successfully connected.

The Huanggang Road Yellow River Tunnel in Jinan City is approximately 5.75 kilometers long, with a shield section of about 3.3 kilometers and a designed speed of 60 kilometers per hour. It is the first "single-bore double-layer" shield tunnel passing through the Yellow River in China. The tunnel was constructed using the world's largest diameter slurry pressure balance shield machine under construction, the "Shanhe", and successively passed under the Yellow River embankment, the Yellow River and other areas.

It is reported that the 17-meter-class shield machine has crossed the "above-ground suspended river" for the first time. The construction is highly challenging and demanding, posing extremely high requirements for precise control of the excavation and the reliability of the equipment. He said, "The 'Shanhe' shield machine innovatively applies a large opening rate pressure-bearing composite cutter head and is equipped with a telescopic main drive.
